Young Thug Officially Reveals Release of A New Album
On Wednesday (April 16), Young Thug launched an official online store for UY SCUTI, unveiling alternate cover art and a curated selection of merchandise, signaling that a new era is imminent. “It’s Time. Red Planet,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), linking to the storefront. This due to the album’s cosmic title, which references UY Scuti. It is one of the biggest red stars in the Universe, located in the constellation Scutum.
The shop features a range of items, including vinyl and CD editions, alongside merch. Among the standout items is a “What Would Brian Do?” The T-shirt is a tribute to his attorney, Brian Steel, who played a central role in Thug’s legal defense. Steel recently made headlines for joining Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team ahead of the music mogul’s upcoming federal trial.
Thugger’s comeback campaign gained further momentum this past weekend when a billboard with cryptic messaging was spotted at Coachella: “Universe has been too quiet. Until now. UY SCUTI.” Though the exact release date was blacked out, the billboard hinted at a May arrival, prompting speculation of a May 9 release. That date marks three years to the day since Young Thug and 27 others were indicted in the sweeping RICO case that rocked the Atlanta hip-hop community.
Although he hasn’t dropped a solo single in 2025, Young Thug recently appeared on Lil Baby’s track “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber,” which also features Future. The collaboration was a re-entry into the listener’s playlists, suggesting a calculated buildup to UY SCUTI.
Thug’s release on Halloween 2024 came after he accepted a plea deal that sentenced him to 15 years of probation. Now, as he aims to reestablish his place in the rap landscape, UY SCUTI promises to be more than a comeback—it could be a cosmic-level rebirth.’
