Snoop Dogg Releases His New 21st Album “Iz It A Crime?”

Snoop Dogg and his grip on the pulse of hip-hop remain as steady as ever. With a career spanning over three decades, the West Coast icon returns once again. This time with Iz, It a Crime? It is his 21st studio album. Thus, it was released on Thursday, May 14. It’s a testament to his longevity and creativity, which shows no signs of slowing down.

So, the 21-track record plays like a celebration of Snoop Dogg and his expansive musical orbit. Star-studded features include Pharrell Williams, Sexyy Red, and Wiz Khalifa. Also among them are Charlie Bereal, Jane Handcock, and October London. The album’s title track smartly reimagines Sade’s classic “Is It a Crime.” In this way, she layered her sultry original into Snoop’s laid-back groove—a move that nods to nostalgia and innovation.

In a sit-down with The Breakfast Club earlier this week, Snoop reflected on what still drives him. Considering all these years, he has been in the game. “I’m an MC, and I love to rap and I love to make music,” he shared. “People love my voice, and they love when I make great records. When I don’t, they let me know that too.”

He framed his approach with the insight of a seasoned artist. “I should treat myself like a musician, not just a rapper. If you’re a musician, you can make music until you die. But when you’re a rapper, they try to put a cap on you.”

Snoop Dogg and New Album

Iz It a Crime? It’sn’t just an album—it’s part of a broader vision. Snoop offered a sneak peek of an accompanying film. He did so during a private screening in New York City on May 13. However, there is no release date. Yet, one thing is clear: storytelling across multiple media is a key part of this chapter in his career.

At 53, the Long Beach native is busier than ever. Just six months ago, he reunited with longtime collaborator Dr. Dre for Missionary. The two created a joint album that debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200. More recently, he appeared on Altar Call, the gospel compilation from Death Row Records dedicated to his late mother, underscoring a spiritual side often interwoven with his more playful persona.

With Iz It a Crime?, Snoop Dogg doesn’t just add another title to his discography—he cements his place as one of hip-hop’s most enduring forces. Still evolving, still experimenting, and still unmistakably Snoop.
