Chris Brown Speaks For The First Time After Hi Release

Chris Brown has spoken out publicly for the first time since securing his release. The rapper paid a staggering £5.3 million (approximately USD 6.7 million) bail. This occurred just days after being arrested and held in a London jail.

The embattled R&B star took to Instagram Stories late Wednesday. His defiant message doubles as both a celebration and a declaration of intent. “FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!! BREEZYBOWL.”

Thus, the widely circulated post signals Brown’s return to the spotlight and reaffirms his commitment to Breezy Bowl XX. This global stadium tour had been hanging in the balance amid the legal proceedings.

The tour, which kicks off June 8 in Amsterdam, faced serious uncertainty when Brown was arrested on May 15 at the Lowry Hotel in Salford, England. He was charged with “inflicting grievous bodily harm.” The allegations came from an alleged assault in February 2023 at Tape, a high-profile London nightclub. According to prosecutor Hannah Nicholls, Brown allegedly carried out an “unprovoked attack with a weapon” on producer-promoter Abraham Diaw.

Chris Brown and The New Tour

Initially denied bail following a May 16 court appearance, Brown was remanded into custody. Thus, the rapper threw the first leg of his European tour into question. However, a London judge reversed that ruling on May 21. The new hearing allowed Brown to walk free after posting an initial payment of £4.3 million ($5.4 million). This is with the remaining £1 million ($1.3 million) due within seven days.

With his legal status temporarily stabilized, Brown’s updated court schedule now has him returning to Southwark Crown Court on June 20. Following it are poised awkwardly between two major U.K. tour dates: June 19 in Cardiff and June 21 in London.

The Breezy Bowl XX tour, a celebratory milestone in the singer’s decades-spanning career, will now proceed as planned. After the Amsterdam opener, Brown is slated to cross back over to the U.S. for a July 30 stop in Miami, with additional dates expected to be confirmed.

While Brown has remained tight-lipped on the allegations, his Instagram post suggests he’s eager to redirect public focus to his music and massive stage production. Whether that strategy will hold as the legal saga unfolds remains to be seen—but for now, Chris Brown is out, vocal, and back in performance mode.
