Eminem Joins Jelly Roll For A New Performance

On a night already thick with Motor City pride, Eminem and Jelly Roll turned up the volume. What began as an already raucous set turned seismic when Eminem emerged mid-performance to a deafening roar from the hometown faithful.

The surprise cameo was out of nowhere. Just as Jelly Roll launched into the opening verse of “Lose Yourself,” Eminem’s Oscar-winning anthem from 8 Mile. The stadium lights flared, the crowd surged, and he was suddenly Slim Shady. He had a striding out in a hooded, military-style jacket and cap. Thus, Eminem picked up the second verse with the swagger of someone owning the song and the city. Thus, he joined Jelly Roll down a center-stage ramp as the two traded verses and grins.

“Detroit, what up?! Make some noise for Jelly Roll!” Eminem shouted to the 46,000-strong crowd as the final beat dropped. “Long time, no see. I love y’all. Peace!” He exited as quickly as he arrived, but the shockwave he left behind lingered.

So, for Jelly Roll, the moment wasn’t just another high-profile collaboration—it was deeply personal. “If you can’t tell, that was a childhood dream come f–king true, Detroit. This is the greatest show I’ve ever had in my f–king life,” he said, visibly overwhelmed. He credited Eminem’s music for helping him through “the darkest moments” of his life. He gave a heartfelt shoutout to Eminem’s longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg.

The night was laced with nods to Eminem throughout Jelly Roll’s set. Fans caught glimpses of the rapper’s signature backwards ‘E’ logo embedded in the visuals. Also, there is signage referencing Mom’s Spaghetti, Eminem’s beloved eatery, just blocks from the stadium.

So, Sunday’s moment wasn’t the first time the two artists shared a stage. Nearly a year ago, Jelly Roll joined Eminem at the Michigan Central Station. They performed together at “Sing For the Moment” with the accompaniment of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The connection deepened in 2024 when Jelly Roll contributed to “Somebody Save Me.” It was the emotional closer from Eminem’s Billboard 200-topping album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

Thus, for Eminem, the Ford Field cameo marked his first onstage appearance since December’s Soundstorm Festival in Riyadh and followed his guest spot with Ed Sheeran at the same Detroit venue in July 2023.

The evening wasn’t short on other star power. Jelly Roll returned to the stage later to join Post Malone for “Losers,” a cut from Malone’s latest release F-1 Trillion, and BigXthaPlug made a guest appearance to deliver his breakout hit “Texas.”

Hence, the Ford Field show marked the eighth stop on Malone’s blockbuster tour, which next hits Minneapolis on Tuesday, with international dates stretching through September 14 in Lisbon. In a city that has given the world so much music, Sunday night was a reminder: Detroit never forgets its own, and its legends have a habit of showing up when you least expect them.
