Metro Boomin Brings a New Mixtape ‘A Futuristic Summa’
On July 15, Metro Boomin unveiled plans to drop a brand-new mixtape, “A Futuristic Summa.” The mixtape will arrive next Tuesday, on July 22. Hosted by DJ Spinz, the project marks Metro’s return to the mixtape format with a nostalgic twist. The nostalgic throwback is inspired by the 80s, which he revealed alongside the announcement.
The first taste of “A Futuristic Summa” came earlier this month on July 4. That’s when Metro Boomin slid out the Roscoe Dash-assisted single “Slide.” Thus, he made a breezy nod to early 2010s party rap. It’s a fitting warm-up for what’s shaping up to be a heavy-hitting, feature-packed affair.

According to Metro’s official website, the 20-track tape will include 20 different features. Along with Dash, the lineup already boasts names like Quavo and J Money. Just last week, Metro previewed a track—possibly titled “Extra Bow Bow.” It features the two Atlanta rap vets, fueling anticipation for the project’s Southern-stacked guest list.
Metro Boomin Drops “A Futurstic Summa” After Long Time of Teasing
While Metro Boomin teased on X (formerly Twitter) that “A Futuristic Summa” will highlight an “all-new cast” of collaborators. His longtime fans know he’s no stranger to working with Quavo. Their history goes back to the “Culture” era, Migos days. Back when Bad and Boujee became Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 in 2016. They also linked on 2017’s “Without Warning” for “Rap Saved Me,” alongside Offset and 21 Savage. Metro even laced J Money’s “Sauce God” back in 2015. Thus, it proved that his Atlanta roots still run deep.
“
A Futuristic Summa” follows Metro’s monster 2024 run with Future. “We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You” dominates the Billboard 200 and racks up Grammy nods. Additionally, “Like That” is the Kendrick Lamar-led detonation that cracked open last year’s biggest rap feud with Drake. It snagged nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. The “We Still Don’t Trust You” title track featuring The Weeknd also earned a nod for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
So, with A Futuristic Summa, Metro seems ready to switch gears. He’s keeping one foot in the future while paying homage to his mixtape-era roots.
