In “i don’t watch the news!” you address the negativity of news cycles. Was there a specific event or moment that triggered your decision to write this song?
It wasn’t anything specific, I just say what comes out in the moment when I’m recording, and it happened to be that, so I stuck with it.
The lyrics in “i don’t watch the news!” are quite vivid. Can you walk us through a few lines that you feel are particularly impactful and explain their significance?
I like the line, “Ain’t listen to critics, ain’t with all of that, elevated my ways, all I do is adapt.” Because that’s true and I feel like public authenticity gets criticised, it’s important to not listen to it.
You mentioned that this track challenges listeners to reconsider their viewpoints on current events. How do you hope your fans will change their media consumption habits after listening to this song?
It was more to express how I felt instead of trying to change anybody else’s mind or way of consuming media.
How has your audience responded to “i don’t watch the news!” so far? Have there been any surprising reactions or interpretations of the song?
So far, I’ve been getting good reactions.
Can you talk about the evolution of your sound from your earlier work to your latest release? What has changed, and what has remained constant?
I’d say my workflow has changed. I finish songs a lot quicker now.
When did you first realise you wanted to pursue a career in music, and what motivated you to start rapping?
I’ve always wanted to do it since listening to music as a child. What motivated me was seeing my friends doing it.
What is your favourite part about being a hip-hop artist? Is there a specific aspect of the creative process that you enjoy the most?
I enjoy creating, and I’ve also met a ton of great people. It’s also nice to see people reach out and say that they enjoy it.
Are there any specific themes or topics that you are passionate about exploring through your music next?
It usually comes to me in the moment; I don’t always think about it beforehand.
What are your goals for the future, both in terms of your music career and personal aspirations?
I want to stay consistent and continue to have fun; the same goes for my personal life.
