Kanye West Now Has A New Name Again, It’s Ye Ye

Call him Ye—no, wait—call him Ye Ye now.

Kanye West appears to have updated his moniker once again. Previously, he legally dropped his full name in favor of the minimalist “Ye” in 2021. Now, the new business filings suggest he’s taken things a step further: welcome to the era of Ye Ye.

The news came according to California business documents obtained by Page Six. Ye’s longtime chief financial officer, Hussain Lalani, filed paperwork listing the artist’s name as “Ye Ye.” The updated name now appears on a range of West’s ventures, including Yeezy Apparel and Yeezy Record Label LLC. Also, his Getting Out Our Dreams Inc. lists “Ye Ye” as the manager or member.

Previously, filings referred to the artist as “Ye West,” blending his former surname with his rebranded identity. But now, it seems West is doubling down on his evolution. Whether it’s a new creative chapter or just another bold redefinition of self, no one does it quite like Ye.

Kanye West and His New Name

As of now, Ye Ye hasn’t publicly acknowledged the new name on social media. Also, the reps for the artist have yet to comment on the change. That said, earlier this month, the 24-time Grammy winner did hint at a fresh start when he announced he would no longer be using his @kanyewest handle on X (formerly Twitter).

“Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest twitter cause my name is Ye,” he posted on June 1. “Gonna start a ye account, and it is what it is.”
The shift comes years after Ye first publicly disavowed the name Kanye West. In 2018, he tweeted, “The being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE”—a declaration that coincided with the release of his Ye album, recorded during a much-publicized retreat to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Three years later, in 2021, he legally changed his name to Ye, citing “personal reasons” in the court filings. Since then, the name has become synonymous not just with his musical output but with his increasingly unfiltered public persona, unpredictable creative moves, and sprawling influence in fashion and culture.

Now, with Ye Ye, the artist once again signals a new phase—what that phrase means exactly remains to be seen. But if history tells us anything, it’s that Ye (or Ye Ye) always has a reason, even if the rest of us are playing catch-up.
