BigXThaPlug Drops New Acoustic Version of ‘Holy Ground’
Dallas-bred rap force BigXThaPlug drops the new acoustic rendition of his song “Holy Ground.” The version is released exclusively through Amazon Music. This stripped-back take on the track offers a new light, featuring the haunting vocals of Jessie Murph. With a fresh, poignant counterpoint to the original, which first appeared on the deluxe edition of Big X’s sophomore album, Take Care.
Hence, unplugged but no less powerful, the acoustic version arrived May 2 as part of Amazon Music’s Breakthrough program. The initiative that previously spotlighted BigX as a rising artist to watch. So, the collaboration showcases a new side of the rapper. Previously better known for his booming delivery and magnetic swagger.
“Man, this one came from the heart,” BigXThaPlug shared in a statement. “We took it back to the basics — just real music, real feelings. ‘Holy Ground’ is about where I been and where I’m headed, all the blessings and the battles. Jessie snapped on it too, brought a whole new energy to it. Big love to Amazon Music for rockin’ with me. This just the beginning.”
Jessie Murph, who lends her signature husky resonance to the acoustic cut, elevates the emotional stakes of the track, complementing BigX’s gritty storytelling with a vulnerable edge that lingers long after the final chord fades.
BigXThaPlug and Amazon Breaktrough
Also, Amazon Music’s artist relations lead, Alexis Cueva, emphasized why BigX was the natural pick for their Breakthrough program. “BigXThaPlug has been one of the most exciting new voices in hip-hop, with an outsized sound as big as his personality,” Cueva told Billboard. “We’ve already seen our customers respond to his incredible music on Amazon Music, and as our next Breakthrough Artist, we’re excited to help BigX connect with even more fans.”
And connect he has. 2025 has already proven a milestone year for BigXThaPlug. His genre-blurring single “All the Way” with country breakout Bailey Zimmerman topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in April. Also, the track cracked the top five of the Billboard Hot 100, giving the Dallas rapper his first Top 10 hit.
With “Holy Ground” now reimagined in its most vulnerable form. Also, BigXThaPlug is showing that a storyteller capable of reaching far beyond hip-hop’s traditional boundaries lies beneath the bravado. Thus, it’s a moment of artistic evolution—and if BigX’s words are any indication, he’s just getting started.
