Childish Gambino Announces ‘ATAVISTA’: A Revisit to 2020
Childish Gambino, the musical moniker of Donald Glover, has surprised fans with the announcement of a new project titled ATAVISTA. While technically “new,” the record reimagines his 2020 effort, 3.15.20.
ATAVISTA acts as a refined version of 3.15.20, offering a fresh look at the acclaimed album that marked Gambino’s first full-length project since Awaken, My Love! in 2016. Keen observers will notice a couple of key changes: the enigmatic “32.22” is absent from the ATAVISTA tracklist, and the previously included “42.26” (better known as the 2018 hit “Feels Like Summer”) is replaced by the new track “Human Sacrifice.”
The original 3.15.20 release was shrouded in mystery. Initially dropped on Glover’s website for a mere 12 hours before disappearing, it eventually landed on streaming platforms a week later. The 13-track project featured a diverse array of collaborators, including Ariana Grande, Kadhja Bonet, 21 Savage, and Ink. It also garnered critical acclaim and earned Gambino a Grammy nomination.
While details regarding an official release date for ATAVISTA remain under wraps, the announcement has certainly piqued the interest of fans eager to revisit the soundscape of 3.15.20 with a few added twists. Stay tuned for further updates on this intriguing project.
